Atlantic Crossing | Franklin Roosevelt and Crown Princess Martha: A Friendship Forged in War | Masterpiece | Official Site

The TV miniseries Atlantic Crossing presents a surprising and little-known story to American audiences. But how much should we read into the portrayal of FDR and Martha’s relationship? And what was the true nature of their rapport? David B. Woolner, Senior Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute and author of The Last 100 Days: FDR at War and at Peace reflects on a friendship that deepened during wartime. The restaurants that survived scaled down and reworked their operations. Many have had to close permanently. Since March 2020, over 110,000 – or about one out of every six restaurants in the U.S. – have closed. This has affected not only individuals, but the overall economy. In 2017 the profits of the restaurant industry were estimated at US$800 billion, which experts expect have shrunk substantially in the past year.
