Senator Jim Tedisco today presented a New York State Senate “Woman of Distinction Award” to Renee Farley of Malta, who is an impassioned advocate for veterans and a successful small businesswoman and owner of a Saratoga County-based woman-owned construction business and real estate firm.

MALTA Senator Jim Tedisco today presented the New York State Senate Liberty Medal, the Senate’s highest honor for service, to Vietnam War veteran and former U.S. Navy nurse, Lt. Helene Wallingford of Malta at a ceremony at Malta Town Hall.
Last year, Senator Tedisco presented Helene’s husband, Captain David Wallingford with the New York State Senate Liberty Medal. This is the first couple Tedisco has presented with Liberty Medals.
Lt. Helene Wallingford served 5 years of active duty in the U.S.

In Albany, the Damien Center has partnered with Leadership Tech Valley to create a new garden to provide healthy produce for individuals living with HIV/AIDs. The Damien Center is a resource center that provides critical housing and services to improve health, reduce stress and increase the quality of life for individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS and that provides support for their families. The Capital Roots Community Garden not only features a produce garden, but also a reflection area and flower garden for members to mourn the loss of loved ones.
