TAHLEQUAH â Bobby Slover, the losing Dist. 2 candidate in the Cherokee Nationâs July 24âs runoff race, was charged prior to the election with accepting an illegal campaign contribution.
The CN Attorney Generalâs Office filed the charge July 21, contending that Slover, 63, of Tahlequah, âunlawfully and knowinglyâ accepted a $1,000 campaign donation from a legal entity, which is prohibited.
The tribeâs Election Commission rescheduled a July 29 hearing for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 2 instead to address the attorney generalâs accusation against Slover. The special meeting will be held inside the EC office at 17763 S. Muskogee Ave.
According to the CN Election Code, candidate contributions âmay only be made by individual natural persons.â
