Woman charged with kidnapping after taking child, throwing him into river

HUNTINGTON — A woman is facing kidnapping charges after police accused her of taking a 5-year-old boy from his family and tossing him into the Ohio River.

bjohnson@theintermountain.com ELKINS A Randolph County grand jury indicted 27 individuals Monday, on charges including burglary, breaking and entering and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Juan Castro Chitop, 28, of Louisville, Kentucky, was indicted on one count of fleeing in a vehicle with reckless indifference, a felony; and one count each of reckless driving and failure to stop at a posted stop sign, both misdemeanors. Wayne Scott Clemens, 41, an inmate at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, was indicted on two counts of failure to register as a sexual offender or provide notice of registration changes, second or subsequent offense, a felony.

Young penpals keep care home residents spirits up

What started as a few Christmas cards has now led to a lasting relationship between a primary school and a care home. In December Kirkbride Primary School youngsters were tasked with sending cards to the residents of Inglewood Care home in Wigton – and the whole school got behind it, sending in dozens of cards. Now the school and home have started to exchange letters with residents, with children becoming penpals. Asda in Carlisle chose Inglewood to be its Christmas Community Charity and they involved Kirkbride School to join in and write personal cards to all the service users. Home manager Audrey McKay said: “The service users really enjoyed receiving the letters and we are over the moon to have been chosen by Asda to be their charity.”

Kirkbride Primary School don t let Covid get in the way of Christmas

A PRIMARY school has been blown away by the resilience of their children and the way they’ve taken to new life at the school under the coronavirus pandemic. Kirkbride Primary School have tried to make things as normal as possible for the children, especially so this Christmas organising festive activities for them to take part in. As the school couldn’t put on a nativity performance they decided to put together a video. Headteacher, Dawn Maxwell, explained; “We’ve got an outdoor classroom and each class dressed up and we had a live animal, a calf, that came onto the screen.
