Imagine wanting to tell Santa what you want for Christmas, but you can't communicate. That’s what it's like for deaf children, but Santa is making a change.
RIT experts are working to bridge the gap between essential emergency resources and services and needs of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. Researchers will partner with local organizations, including the Rochester Recreation Club for the Deaf and Monroe County Office of Emergency Management.
Students and researchers from the RIT/NTID Center on Access Technology are collaborating with Google and Georgia Tech to create PopSign, a new way for parents of deaf children to learn American Sign Language.
