Philadelphia goalie Carter Hart made his first start since Nov. 1 and stopped 31 shots for his second road win this season. The Flyers scored early goals in the first and second periods to earn their third straight road win and hand the Hurricanes their first loss in five home games this season.

Coming up on the one-year anniversary of his last NHL win, Philadelphia Flyers goalie Cal Petersen was surprisingly called on to start with Carter Hart still unavailable because of illness. Cam Atkinson scored twice and Sean Walker added his first goal with Philadelphia as the Flyers beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 on Thursday night. Atkinson, who missed all of last season with a neck injury, has played a role in the Flyers’ 3-1 start.
