POLICE arrested more than 50 people and seized more than 50 vehicles in just two weeks of a crackdown on dangerous drivers. In response to community concerns raised during lockdown, officers carried out more checks to ensure vehicles on Wiltshires roads are legal and the drivers are in a fit state to be behind the wheel. THE ARMED officer who shot a gunman in the leg acted proportionately, a watchdog report has found. Robber Howard Jones who had minutes earlier stolen a refrigerated lorry, was shot by the unnamed Wiltshire Police officer last June – after the 59-year-old fired two ball bearings at another policeman.
