After Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday sought the resignations of state party chiefs of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur following the partys poor performance in the Assembly elections in five states, Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal submitted his resignation on Tuesday, taking the moral responsibility for Congress defeat in the polls.

The Congress dissenters, called the G23 group, are meeting in Delhi at Ghulam Nabi Azads residence to chalk out their strategy after the humiliating defeat of the party in recently held five state elections.

Congress G23 leaders may hold a meeting tomorrow in Delhi to discuss their future course of action, said sources.

After the defeat in the Uttarakhand Assembly elections, Congress leader Dipika Pandey Singh on Sunday resigned as national secretary, co-incharge, of the party.
