Debbie Croston delivered 100 Terry’s Chocolate Oranges to workers at the vaccination site over the weekend. Ms Croston was inspired by Chris Lamb, who started giving chocolate oranges to hospital staff in St Helen’s after they cared for his son there in 2010. Since then, his son Elliot has died, but Mr Lamb continues the tradition giving them out on what he calls “Make a Difference Friday”. She said: “They were lovely about it - they didn’t expect me to come. I just walked in, dumped them on a chair and walked out. It was a weird one for me as I usually plan them out but on this occasion I just got them all together and delivered them.

Debbie Croston has been inspired by former Rugby League player Kevin Sinfield, who raised more than £2.5 million for the charity following teammate Rob Burrow’s battle with the disease. He completed seven marathons in seven days in a widely acclaimed fundraising effort. Debbie Croston is hoping to raise the cash as part of the charity’s 7-in-7 challenge and also with her son Sean, 21, who plays rugby for Whitehaven, in mind. Having seen Rob Burrow’s deterioration in a matter of months, Debbie is hoping to encourage people to raise as much money towards finding a cure.
