Understand what china adjusted as a first in human history and its awesome but its also true the united states of america flew closer shows on than any country on earth and we are now in orbit around an asteroid in deep space. >> even the u.s. is still the undisputed leader exploring deep space, the chinese lunar landing is a challenge to future american dominance in space. something president trump has promised to protect with his space force. >> we must have american dominance in space. >> pre...

Want to look at it. >> we can show you the first close-up image on the far side of the moon, and it was transmitted from where trover landed and this is a major accomplishment and puts chinas space program in the history books, and it will experiment to see if plants like potatoes can be planted, believe it or not, in certain specialized containers that could help with developing lunar bases in the future, and they will explore it and listen to frequencies coming from deep space, and theres no i...

Spir spir experiments and see which plants will grow. there is a long to-do list for the lunar rover. china is up to the task. it will listen to the sounds of deep space which china says it can do better on the far side of the moon because there is no electromagnetic interference from earth. this is a signal to the rest of the world that china wants to take a lead in exploring space, not only the moon, but mars moving forward. >> a trade war and space race. good stuff. matt rivers, thank you. ...

Been able to land a rover or any probe on the far side of the moon, the side of the moon that never faces the earth because of the way the moon rotates around the earth. in terms of what the rover is going to do, its going to conduct all sorts of experiments like looking at which plants might be able it grow in that environment and specialized containers. its are going to explore for water or other resources in both poles of the north and the south, but most interestingly, i think, its going to ...

Change 4 made its way to the far side of the moon. it successfully landed around 9:25 p.m. eastern time on the u.s. east coast there. it is a big deal for the chinese space program. the first time you can say they entered into the space history books, i guess you call it, in their own right. not u.s. or russia, but china. they will do a number of things on the far side of the moon. they will see if certain plants can survive. they will explore the north and south poles to see if there is water o...

Orbit. that is if it doesnt blow up on ascent. and while sending a tesla to space might be a silly pr stunt the launch is anything but. the rocket was designed from the start to ferry people to the moon and to mars. a successful launch would put spacex a giant leap forward towards getting to deep space. oh, and did i mention that spacex is hoping to land all three first stage boosters? yes, thats also happening. >> rachel crane. thank you. now take a look at this stunning landscape. well show ...
