In sustaining the fight against crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region , the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in Bonny, Rivers State, has arrested three persons and intercepted materials meant for construction of illegal refineries in the area.
Although Nigeria is the 7th largest exporter of Crude Petroleum in the world, Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos which was inaugurated in May this year and described as the game changer for Nigeria’s economy is currently importing crude oil from outside the country because NNPC cannot sell crude oil to the Dangote refinery.
A sea traveller has been reportedly killed, while scores of others got injured along Billie Waterways, Degema Local Council of Rivers State following a pirate attack on Friday evening.
Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim, said the force’s tactical riverine squadron achieved the feat with the aid of its helicopter.
