It’s been more than a year since Curtis Wilson tied a necktie.
The Benson High School principal’s work attire has been more casual during the pandemic, consisting of a polo and jeans. On the rare occasion he needs to dress up, Wilson reaches for one of the few neckties he’s worn this year.
They’re all pre-tied.
“Whew, I’m out of practice,” Wilson said as he fiddled with the blue-and-green checkered cloth draped around sophomore Milo Hagardorn’s neck Monday afternoon, the first time more than a handful of students set foot in the Northeast Portland high school since the start of the pandemic.
