30 COVID cases reported this week

AUBURN — COVID-19 cases in DeKalb County continue to follow the national trend of a slow rise. Case are up seven from last week with 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported from July 10-16. This brings the total positive cases of the virus in DeKalb County to 4,514 since March 24, 2020. In the first 16 days of July the county has reported 62 new cases. Infected individuals are tending to be those younger individuals under the age of 50 and those who haven’t been vaccinated. The state vaccine dashboard shows 14,902 residents of DeKalb County are fully vaccinated that’s 40% of the county’s population. That number is below the state average of 52.9% of those 16 and over who are fully vaccinated.

COVID numbers on the rise countywide

AUBURN — As vaccination uptake rates for COVID-19 continue to fall, the number of people being affected by the virus is on the rise again in DeKalb County. Over the first 14 days of the month, 54 cases of COVID-19 have been reported by the DeKalb County Health Department. This week, 21 cases have been reported, with the majority of the cases hitting those 50 and younger. There has been one case reported in those 11-20, five between the ages of 21 and 30, two between the ages of 31 and 40, 10 between the age of 41-50, one between the age of 51-60 and one between age 61-70. This brings the total positive cases in DeKalb County to 4,538 and the total deaths of COVID-19 positive patients to 78 since March 24, 2020.
