A group of West Virginia lawmakers approved a bill, House Bill 4535, that would change the state Tax Department s methodology for evaluating coal properties. The property tax-focused bill, advanced by the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee, is expected to make tax income streams for county and local governments less certain.
