It is either donald trump or Hillary Clinton. If youre not for donald trump and not voting and not showing up, youre helping Hillary Clinton. [ applause ] pretty much that clear. This is how we tell the history, but my goal is to silence less and less people and thats what i would hope were doing in history. Which is not necessarily creating im not trying to create a new narrative. Im not trying to say if we do that now, well come to another narrative that were all going to agree on. I guess what i hope for the museum is that there is a lot of things that we have been silent about that show up in the museum in some kind of in some kind of way and now spaces for people to add other things that they think are silent because were all going to create something that has silences in it. But to have a lot of things that have been silent and not to worry about whether im not running a museum, i can say not worry, not to worry about the things that are going to be upset about that, are in there or included, et cetera. Field of africanamerican history and culture has expanded and morphed so many times. As such, theres so many issues, so many topics, so many themes that it was impossible to do everything in this conference. And theres so many gifted scholars whose voices should be heard but cant for this particular conference. I say in the book that if he had been around he would have had him with a verbal two by four twice a day and they didnt do that. You remember that moment when he looked at his watch i saw that and i cringed off because i had any understanding of the political effect i must admit it didnt dawn on me that would be a political issue afterwards that i cringed because i knew him well enough that what went through my mind as he is saying how much longer do i have to take this abuse and he used a slightly different word. He himself used a slightly different word in an interview after and it is contained in the book but the fact is i can tell by looking at him he had really lost a lot of the fire because what he saw was in the campaign.
