COVID Outbreak at Two Area Nursing Homes | NewsRadio WHAM 1180

May 7, 2021 The CEO of Rochester Regional Health says 27 patients at the DeMay Living Center in Wayne County and the Clifton Springs Nursing Home in Ontario County have tested positive for COVID-19. But Dr. Robert Mayo says 24 of those patients had been vaccinated, and are showing only mild symptoms or NO symptoms. Of the three people who weren t vaccinated, one has serious symptoms and is in the hospital. Mayo says that shows the vaccine protected those 24 patients, even though they picked up the infection anyway. RRH says it tests nursing home staff and patients every three-to-seven days. As to how the coronavirus got into the nursing homes, Dr. Mayo says that s less important than the fact that the COVID-Vaccine protected the patients.

Rochester Regional confirms COVID-19 outbreak at Clifton Springs and DeMay Living Center

WHECTV Created: May 07, 2021 04:06 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Rochester Regional Health Friday announced a COVID-19 outbreak at two of its nursing homes, Clifton Springs and DeMay Living Center. Rochester Regional said 10 Clifton Springs residents and 17 DeMay Living Center residents have tested positive for the virus, and all but three of them were vaccinated. It says all but three of the vaccinated residents are asymptomatic, and one of the three unvaccinated residents is hospitalized and two of the three are showing symptoms. Those that have been previously vaccinated remain asymptomatic and that s a really important point that even though we believe they have a new level of infection, they remain asymptomatic,  Rochester Regional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Mayo said.

Rochester Regional Health: Workers putting residents over self at nursing homes during outbreaks

Fingerlakes1.com Menu One of the nursing homes operated by Rochester Regional Health here in the Finger Lakes saw the worst of the coronavirus pandemic. As of January 22 there had been 108 cases of COVID-19 among residents at DeMay Living Center in Newark. There were 72 total staff cases of the virus at this facility, which made the situation even more difficult to navigate. At Clifton Springs Nursing Home a total of 15 residents and 25 staff  have had the virus. Most of those staff have returned to work, and both facilities had reported fewer than 20 deaths as of this story. However, COVID-19 made staffing a challenge as the facility in Newark saw dozens of cases appear in a matter of days.
