As the race to see who will be Montreal s next mayor moves into its final days, the campaign has taken an increasingly personal tone, with the two main candidates accusing each other of lacking integrity.
Projet Montreal leader Valerie Plante is being criticized for not being transparent about her party after one of her candidates revealed he was the subject of a sexual assault complaint that was closed by police.
“I was the object of an unfounded allegation concerning an event that happened in 2012,” the city councillor said in a statement issued Thursday morning.
Craig Sauvé, a councillor in the Sud-Ouest borough, issued a statement saying he was the subject of "an unfounded allegation regarding an event that took place in 2012."
