Statement – Boom gates long gone as traffic starts under Davis Road underpass
The new underpass at Davis Road in Kelmscott officially opened last Friday night, only weeks after the permanent closure of the Denny Avenue level crossing.
The new underpass forms part of the rail-over-road solution for METRONET’s Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal project, which has lifted more than 850 metres of the rail line over Davis Road to facilitate construction of the new underpass crossing for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
Previously ranked as one of the RAC’s riskiest roads two years in a row, this inaugural METRONET level crossing removal project will increase safety, reduce road congestion and revitalise the Kelmscott town centre.

By February 2015 a group of Camillo and Kelmscott residents were sick of it. Theyâd had an absolute gutful.

âUpgrade Denny Avenue Rail Crossingâ was the innocuous title of the Change.org petition started by Camillo resident Laura Shockthorap.
