The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Implementation of Curriculum Reforms at the Ministry of Education, Prof. Fatuma Chege, speaking at the Catholic Schools Principals Association (CaSPA) Conference held at the Catholic University of East (CUEA) on July 4, urged the principals of Catholic-sponsored and owned schools to brace themselves for the transition of CBC learners from primary schools to junior secondary schools promising that 100% transition will be a reality.

President Uhuru Congratulates KCSE 2020 Candidates President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday at State House, Nairobi received results of the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations ahead of their release to the public. The results were presented to the Head of State by Education CS Prof George Magoha at a briefing attended by Head of Public Service Dr Joseph Kinyua, Early Learning and Basic Education PS Dr Julius Jwan, and TSC CEO Nancy Macharia and her KNEC counterpart Mercy Karogo. President Kenyatta congratulated the 2020 KCSE candidates for a great performance despite the challenges posed by Covid-19 and thanked the education sector stakeholders for the smooth administration of the examinations.

How to check for 2020 KCSE results

THE STANDARD EDUCATION Candidates in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam can check their results online. Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha said the candidates should collect their results from their respective examination centres. Individual candidate's results can be accessed by sending a candidate’s index number followed by the initials “KCSE” through a SMS to 20076. The service was available immediately after Magoha's address at Mtihani House. Chege will spearhead the execution of the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).  "In exercise of the powers conferred to me by the Constitution, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint — Fatuma Chege to be a Principal Secretary with effect from May 6, 2021," Gazette Notice no. 4203 of Volume CXXIII - No. 96 reads.

Ministry now focusses on next step in rollout of CBC

[Edward Kiplimo, Standard] President Uhuru Kenyatta’s commitment to the implementation of the new curriculum was evident yesterday when Cabinet Secretary George Magoha lauded the progress as he released the results of the Kenya Certificate of Primary  Education (KCPE). The CS met the president before the event at the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) alongside the Principal Secretary for State Department of Early Learning and Basic Education Julius Jwan. Magoha expressed confidence on CBC progress that is now being implemented up to Grade 4. Dr Jwan was part of the technical team that midwifed the curriculum reforms.
