Solar executive is 1st GOP candidate in Arizona Senate race

PHOENIX (AP) Solar energy entrepreneur Jim Lamon kicked off a campaign for U.S. Senate Monday, becoming the first Republican to take on Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly in next year’s election.
Lamon, who has never run for office and is not well-known to voters, released a video introducing himself as a Washington outsider and successful businessman.
He s entering what could be a crowded field of Republicans seeking the GOP nomination in one of the highest-profile 2022 U.S. Senate races.
“I have strong principled conservative positions that as a military veteran, as a job creator, I understand business,” Lamon told The Associated Press. “I understand how to compete globally. I am very much into a level playing field for our American workers.”
Jim Lamon, head of a solar power company and a supporter of former President Donald Trump, is the first Republican to enter the primary race in Arizona to compete for a Senate seat, hoping to oust incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Az.), a Democrat and former NASA astronaut.

(KYMA, KECY/ AP NEWS) - Solar energy entrepreneur Jim Lamon has kicked off a campaign for U.S. Senate, becoming the first Republican to take on Democratic Senator Mark Kelly in next year s election.
Lamon now enters what could be a very crowded field of Republicans seeking the GOP nomination in one of the highest-profile 2022 U.S. Senate races. He also joins the race in his first-ever run for office and not well known to voters.
Lamon founded DepCom Power, a Scottsdale-based firm that engineers and builds utility scale solar plants. He stepped down as CEO to focus on his Senate run but remains chairman.

Jim Lamon, the chairperson of a solar power company and a supporter of former President Donald Trump, has launched a U.S. Senate campaign, hoping to oust incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly.
Lamon, 65, a Paradise Valley resident who grew up on a farm in Alabama before serving as an engineer airborne officer for the U.S. Army, is the first Republican to jump into a race that could be central to the party’s chances of retaking the Senate majority in 2022. He is the founder and chairman of the board of Scottsdale-based Depcom Power, a solar engineering and construction company that employs 1,600 across the nation.

Mayor Maurice Howard said a team of consulting companies will help bring the city more savings.

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) Aberdeen city leaders hired some consulting companies to help invest in the development of the city.
At Tuesday’s regular meeting, the mayor and board of aldermen met to discuss an agreement with Depcom Power, Priority Power and others.
Aberdeen Mayor Maurice Howard said a majority of the board approved to sign with the companies, so they can find projects for the city to invest in.
