The High Court today directed the authorities concerned to conduct a judicial enquiry into an allegation of an innocent man named Manik Hawlader serving jail sentence instead of the convict Manik Miah of Shariatpur s Bhedarganj in connection with a drug related case.
The chief judicial magistrate (CJM) of Shariatpur has been ordered to conduct the enquiry to find out the real convict and to submit the probe report to the High Court in 30 days.
Special Tribunal-1 of Sirajganj and its jail super were asked to provide assistance to the chief judicial magistrate of Shariatpur in conducting the investigation.

The investigation will be conducted by Shariatpur’s chief metropolitan magistrate or any other magistrate under his supervision. Sirajganj’s Special Tribunal-1 and the district superintendent of police were instructed to assist the probe.
A report must be submitted to the registrar general of the Supreme Court within 30 days.

The High Court yesterday directed the authorities concerned to launch a judicial enquiry into the allegation that an innocent man has been in jail instead of a convict in a drugs case.
The man in jail is Manik Hawlader while the convict is Manik Mia of Shariatpur s Bhedarganj upazila. Hawlader, who claims to be innocent, has been in Sirajganj jail since he was arrested on November 28, 2020.
The HC ordered the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) of Shariatpur to conduct the enquiry in order to identify the actual accused of the case and to submit the probe report to the HC in 30 days.
