Vehicle thefts down by 37% in 2020, but cops warn public to beware of evolving thieves

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 7,000 vehicles were stolen in the country last year, a drop of 37% from 2019, but authorities say more could be done to raise public awareness of the crime. Vehicle Theft Reduction Council (VTREC) coordinator Mas Tina Abdul Hamid said an average of 20 vehicles were stolen daily in 2020 compared to 32 per day in 2019.
