In a relatively short time, each different location has developed its own special following, and all will soon be collaborating on a special edition American Pale Ale brew.
Today, craft breweries and brewpubs can be found anywhere in New Jersey.
But before it all, there was the Ship Inn – the Garden State’s first post-Prohibition brewery and brewpub, unexpectedly located inside a Milford Victorian home.
With house-made beers and pub grub, it’s been both a local haunt and destination for beer lovers for more than 35 years. Ten years after its founding, New Jersey’s first craft beer was legally brewed and poured here from a tap.
Similar to the prior tenants of the 142-year-old building (a Prohibition-era speakeasy and brothel, as well as dive bar with a bowling alley) the Ship Inn will soon be a memory. But a new descendant – literally – is helping its legacy live on.
