Whistler - Derwent Yacht Race © Colleen Darcey Whistler has been crowned overall winner of this year s Innovative Electrical King of the Derwent. Owned and skippered by Drew Latham the boat performed well in a fleet of 25 yachts in a moderate easterly breeze. Race Officer, Ian Ross set a perfect 3 lap course, on the River Derwent, which provided opportunity for Whistler to sail a strong tactical race and take out the coveted IRC result. Alive, the pocket maxi, sailed clear off the start line and finished in a time of 1 hour 5 minutes, taking 3rd place on IRC. A perfect day for the iconic King of the Derwent yacht race, with a consistent easterly breeze, giving all the competitors a fair opportunity to win said Ross.
