Members of the Detroit Lakes Planning Commission recommended approval of a conditional use permit and rezoning for a proposed Eventide Senior Living Community on East Shore Drive by a 5-3 vote during their most recent meeting on Oct. 27. Dozens of residents from the east side of Detroit Lake showed up to the meeting and voiced their opposition to the facility. Next stop for the proposal will be the Detroit Lakes Community Development Committee on Nov. 7.
Members of the Planning Commission will consider an annexation of 37.5 acres that was requested by property owners between Highway 59 and West Lake Drive.
Owners of Lakecrest Resort on Long Lake in Detroit Lakes received unanimous approval from the Detroit Lakes Planning Commission on Jan. 27 to recommend turning the resort into a planned unit development with 18 housing units to be made available for purchase. The preliminary plat, corresponding rezoning and variances will make their way to the city's community development committee when they meet on Feb. 7 before a meeting of the full city council on Feb. 8.
