City of Detroit Lakes budgeted $558,080 for snow removal in 2024 and the School District sees an average annual expense upwards of $70,000 for snow removal
Minnesota schools have a mandatory reporting process for infectious diseases, like COVID-19, but the process also produces thousands of forms and can lead to an average two-week lag time before they finally make it onto the official Minnesota Department of Health list, according to an MDH official.
Eleven schools in the northwest Minnesota lakes area have been added to the Minnesota Department of Health's COVID-19 list, which indicates five or more students and staff have tested positive for the virus in the last 14 days. Currently, Detroit Lakes High School has six cases between students and staff, but masking requirements won't be implemented until the transmission rate rises above 3%, according to the district's mitigation plan. No other schools in the Detroit Lakes School District have more than five cases.
