Escaped California fugitive found, arrested in Atlanta

ATLANTA - After nearly a week on the run, an escaped inmate from Fresno, California is back in custody.
Devonte Detuan Ross got away from detectives n April 30 when they stopped at a Clayton County QuikTrip gas station to get something to eat.
At the time, Ross, who was charged with burglary, trafficking narcotics, and a probation violation, was being transported from Fresno to Jackson, Georgia.
Thursday afternoon, the Georgia Department of Corrections announced that Ross recaptured by GDC Fugitive Unit in Atlanta.

Two deputies transporting Ross stopped at a QuikTrip gas station to get food
While at the gas station, Ross jumped out of the vehicle and fled while cuffed in the front with waist chains
One day earlier, Jsaan Carlos Strover, 20, escaped custody after he pushed two Maricopa County deputies at a rental car facility
Strover was arrested after midnight Friday when reporters from a local TV station spotted him hiding in the bushes while reporting on his escape

Authorities were searching Friday morning for an inmate who escaped from custody while being taken to a state prison and residents in neighborhoods south of Atlanta’s airport were being asked to lock their doors.
Devonte Detuan Ross slipped away from a private transport company at a QuikTrip where they had stopped to get him something to eat, Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said. Ross should still be cuffed in the front with waist chains unless he has found a way to release them, the sheriff said.
He was being taken to prison to serve time for burglary, narcotics dealing and violating his probation.
