Shaakuntalam was initially made on a budget of Rs 40 Crore. Dil Raju joined the venture and for bringing it out in a 3D version, they spent another Rs 10 Crore. After collaboration and delay in production etc, the budget shot up to Rs 54 Crore. Now, the makers have put Rs 64 Crores on Shaakuntalam, depending on Samanthas craze alone.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohans Shaakuntalam was affected by unfavourable reviews from the press screening conducted on Monday prior to the release.
