Vaccination drive for 40 and above has commenced
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Tuesday said that record-breaking over 164,000 coronavirus vaccines doses were administered on Monday.
Asad Umar, who also heads National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said that vaccination drive for 40 and above also commenced from Monday.
On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 161 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 837,523. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 18,310 on Tuesday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 3,377 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has notified the deployment of the military to help the civil administration enforce coronavirus precautionary measures in all areas of the country except Sindh, as Pakistan grappled with consistently high infections and fatalities.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, in a video message on Sunday, said a notification has been issued under which Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad Capital Territory, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir can seek the services of military troops as per their needs for the implementation of standard operation procedures (SOPs). He added that Sindh has so far not been included in this scheme, without explaining the exclusion.

Asad Umar announced that vaccination centers will remain open on Sunday.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Saturday announced that from tomorrow (Sunday), government is starting walk in coronavirus vaccinations for 60 to 64 year-olds.
Asad Umar, in a tweet, said that all those over 60 years of age who have registered for the vaccine can go to their respective centers and get the jabs.
He further announced that vaccination centers will remain open on Sunday.
On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 157 deaths from COVID-19, highest to date as the number of positive cases has surged to 790,016. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 16,999 on Saturday.

Asad Umar warns of tougher restrictions if Covid-19 SOPs not followed

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Wednesday warned that government may be forced to tighten coronavirus related restrictions if SOPs are not taken seriously.
Talking to media persons, Asad Umar reiterated that coronavirus situation is very serious in the country but regretted that people as well as the administration are not showing the level of seriousness that they demonstrated during the first wave of Covid-19, which was successfully controlled.
He further said that the virus is spreading rapidly in major cities as about 600 patients are visiting hospitals daily in the federal capital while the positivity ratio has crossed even 30 percent in certain cities.
