That is Campus Police letting students know that the campus is indeed closed. If you look over my shoulder you see that theres a car blocking the gates. Only essential personnel are allowed on campu campus. Uc officials now investigating if today explosion is related to copper theft. This is what we know. About 4 30 this afternoon there was a power outage on campus. 2 hours later maintenance wor workers were rae storing the power to the campus, there was an explosion. Now that explosion caused massive power outage across campus. There were minor injuries. One person required medical attention and was transported to an area hospital. Right now there are 20 people trapped in elevators all of them have been located and crews are working to 43 them just moments ago i received an update from campus offi
Variety of departmental and citywide solutionses including differing funding for our it capital and equipment investment. Looking ahead, youll remember that all of our twoyear all of our budgetses this year are open. So, we have fixed twoyear departments, the puc, the port, the mta, and the airport, and all of our other departments will also be open for the next two years. Well also be negotiating new labor contracts with all of our bargaining units except for the police and firefighters, and we know that the economy as well as the state and federal government will likely continue to have an impact on how we balance our budget overall this year. This slide gives you a summary of whats changing since we balanced the budget last year, and whats on the revenue and expenditure side. Youll see tax revenue improvement in both years, changes in our fund balance, and relatively significant changes on the outlook for the Health Departments revenues. The next thing is going to be how our rents are going up and we cannot simply continue to provide services as they are now unless something is done about the cost of living increase. We asked the mayor to fund the cpi this year. We would prefer to take it out of the annual politicized process and have it be something that the city would ultimately institutional eyes through some mechanism so those increases could happen in a rational way through multiyear contracts and automatic escalators. That is something done in every other kind of contract the city has, whether its city leases or supply contracts or forprofit contracts erg. I think its great that were updating our radio system that is out of date and, you know, probably is not as efficient as it could be. Also doesnt currently comply with fcc standards. Im glad were able to do this finally. But i still continue to have a lot of questions. We have three different potential Radio Systems right now. One is, of course, proposed regional bay web motorola system which is no longer and is now being reviewed by, you know, by first net which is now a Different National single wireless Public Safety network. A lot of questions about that. Of course we dont have all the answers to that because that discussion is happening at a national level. Found the Strategic Plan using the learnings from the first round of the funding and taking into consideration the rapidly changing environment of the neighborhood. The chair of the cac will tell you more about this plan following my comments. The revised plan says that the firm work for the rfp issued earlier this year on july 9th, the rfp included four program areas. Number one, the development on housing Coordination Program, two, a neighborhood and business Coordination Program, three, a Community Council, and four, Community Action grants Coordination Program. For the development in housing Coordination Program, it was intended to, one, coordinate with city agencies, Community Based organizations, and developers to provide an analysis of soma housing stock, Plan Development and potential displacement, and two, to facilitate and provide Leadership Development and education to lowincome residents regarding housing and development issues.
