FISHERFOLK in Madridejos town on Bantayan Island are experiencing a decline in their catch. Madridejos Mayor Romeo Villaceran attributed this to the stiff competition among fishermen in their waters. He said this increased competition involves not only local fishermen but also those coming from outside Cebu, leading to a depletion of available fish for catch.

DESPITE the significant decrease of P4.518 billion in the value of fisheries production in Central Visayas in 2022, a local fisheries officer has assured the public that there is no need to worry about the status of fish supply in the region during the holiday season.
