Warm weather is the enemy of ice fishing and this year’s mild winter has led to thin ice at some, but not all, ice fishing destinations in north central Idaho.

The first time I felt safe enough to check the ice thickness was Thanksgiving weekend. It wasn’t safe yet at 1.5 inches. A week later and it still wasn’t.

Susan Richard ran a pregnancy resource facility now known as Women's Care Center for a number of years in Fargo. Friends and family say one of her crowning achievements was bringing the first ultrasound machine to the facility, a tool that has been known to connect many mothers with their children, and save lives.

Beatrice (Buckmier) Hahn passed into her eternal life on January 9, 2024 at Valley Senior Living at the age of 90. She was born on August 25th,1933 in rural Benson County, ND to Sebastian and Regina (Hoffart) Buckmier. She was the eldest of six children. Bea attended country schools in the Minnewauken and Brinsmade areas and then later graduated high school in Minnewauken.
