AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday directed TDP leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao who is currently in hiding to appear before the CID headquarters on April 29. This was in relation to the case registered against him by the AP Crime Investigation Department (CID) for posting morphed videos of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during the Tirupati Lok Sabha Elections campaign.
In a set back to the TDP leader who had filed a petition seeking the court to dismiss the case, Justice Raghunandhan Rao instructed that he appear before the CID and adjourned his petition to May 7.

Amaravati, April 23 : Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Supremo and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday demanded the immediate and unconditional release of party leader and former minister Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar. There was zero development in the last two years but suppression of the opposition leaders and former ministers was going on unabated, alleged Naidu.
He condemned Kumar s arrest and said that the latter was picked up from his home at Chintalapudi village in Guntur district without any prior notice.

TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the arrest of former MLA and Sangam Dairy chairman Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar.
“The arrest is illegal. It is a part of the larger conspiracy to destroy Sangam Dairy,” Mr. Naidu alleged in a statement on Friday.
Mr. Naidu also alleged that the former MLA was arrested without giving prior notice. “It is clear that the State government is determined to hand over Sangam Dairy to the Gujarat-based Amul. The local dairies are being crippled deliberately in order to benefit Amul,” the TDP president alleged.
‘No coercive steps should be taken against him till next hearing on May 7’
Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court Justice R. Raghunandan Rao on Thursday directed former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao to appear before the CID on April 29 for questioning in connection with the alleged morphed video of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, which he had shown at a press conference in Tirupati recently.
In the same vein, Mr. Justice Raghunandan Rao ordered that no coercive steps be taken against Mr. Umamaheswara Rao till the next hearing on May 7.
Mr. Umamaheswara Rao was accused of displaying a video in which Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy had purportedly made a comment that “any cardiology specialist, or any individual who completed higher studies, wishes to live in Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Delhi, but not in Odisha, Bihar or Tirupati.”
