ALTON The Hayner Public Library District will open its doors to the public this month.
The library will open its doors to in-house patronage March 15. The Hayner Public Library District has offered curbside service since June.
“We have been so cautious because limited services is better than no services,” said Hayner’s executive director Bernadette Duvernoy. “We aren’t reopening; we’ve been open, able to offer continuous services this entire time, including curbside services, and we did not want to be a source of community spread. Patrons had full access to library services just not inside the library.”

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Slow or no internet access is no longer preventing people in central Virginia from accessing story time.
The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library has developed âDial-A-Storyâ for anyone to have a story read to them at any hour of the day.
Angela Critics, the childrenâs services coordinator for JMRL, says this takes away many barriers for people to access stories.
âThis is a way for them to access what is a âmini story timeâ without having to use the screen, without needing internet access - just a phone, any phone.â
