PRAYER AND PIZZA for children will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St. The Pine Bluff Corvette Brothers will serve refreshments. The guest speaker will be Dr. Brandi Wright, a local nephrologist, who also donated the pizza. Guests also include Jamia Ford, a praise dancer; Efrem Neely, a lawyer; and Clarence Giles, pastor of Kingdom Encounter Pentecostal Church, who will lead the prayer. The Rev. Anthony Craig is pastor of Mt. Carmel. Prayer and Pizza is a monthly event to pray for and encourage children. Dee Clay is the coordinator. The event is free and open to the public.
ST. ANDREW MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 5810 W. Malcomb St., will celebrate its 164th anniversary/homecoming at 3 p.m. Sunday. Julian Armstrong, a minister at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker, accompanied by members of Damascus. The theme is You Can Always Come Home. Everyone is welcomed to attend and dinner will be served. The Rev. Richard Hart is the pastor at St. Andrew.
AMOS CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1307 W. 16th Ave., will observe World Communion Sunday at 11 a.m. Sunday. The community is invited to attend. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Laydell Jordan, pastor of Prayer Works Gospel Church of Pine Bluff, accompanied by his congregation. Amos Chapel and Prayer Works choirs will sing. World Communion Sunday, a world-wide celebration, is observed the first Sunday in October yearly. The theme is from Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Amos Chapel s pastor is the Rev. Robert Willis Jr.
