Local philanthropist David Frey has passed away at 81. He died peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, according to Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service.

The June 12 meeting, which is open to the public, will feature a presentation about the venue’s design, timeline, sound, traffic and economic impact.

Frey, 81, was named chairman emeritus of the private, economic development group, which is leading the charge to build a riverfront amphitheater in Grand Rapids.
