Ford has made a significant move to improve its EV business, with the Detroit automaker poaching engineering director Alan Clarke from Tesla. The 35-year-old engineer now works with Ford's Advanced EV Development department in California.

The Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker hired Doug Field away from Apple. Field, who preserved served as senior vice president of engineering at Tesla, will lead the automakers effort to make smart
