The News Media and Digital Platforms Mandatory Bargaining Code (the Code) was a world-first initiative. As such, its prospects were uncertain when it took effect on 3 March 2021. The Code aims to address bargaining power imbalances to ensure that news businesses receive fair remuneration from digital platforms for the value generated from their content. This report provides an overview of the success of the Code to date.
