Curtis earns Madison’s MPA Award

Susannah Curtis of Madison, a senior at Madison Area Memorial High School, has been selected to receive the 2021 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Throughout her years at Madison High, Curtis has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community, according to her school. She will graduate as the valedictorian for the class of 2021 and plans to attend the University of Southern Maine to study secondary education with a concentration in history and social studies.

JAY Drew Delaney of Livermore, a senior at Spruce Mountain High School, has been selected to receive the 2021 Principal’s Award.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Throughout his years at Spruce Mountain High School, Delaney has distinguished himself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community, Principal Thomas Plourde said when making the award.
Delaney, Plourde and other award winners and their principals will participate in a live virtual scholarship drawing event on Friday, May 14. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors Horace McGowan, Richard Tyler, and Richard Durost.

TURNER Olivia Morel of Greene, a senior at Leavitt Area High School, has been selected to receive the 2021 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
During her time at Leavitt, Morel has consistently demonstrated a commitment to her class and the school, according to a school news release. She serves as the secretary of her class, president of both the Key Club and Student Council, and is a student representative on the school board, Principal Eben Shaw noted in making this announcement.
