Hefny claims the introduction of obstacle racing can be the "missing
piece" in the sport's quest to secure its future in the Olympic Games.
Turkish capital Ankara is set to host the season finale of the
International Modern Pentathlon Union Pentathlon World Cup before
staging a two-day test event for obstacle racing as the sport’s new
fifth discipline to replace riding.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Ahmed ElGendy has declared that he
is "not happy with the removal of riding" from modern pentathlon, a
stance which appears to put him at odds with the Egyptian Modern
Pentathlon Federation.
