BBC Studios Sets Phil Hardman as Asia GM Patrick Frater, provided by FacebookTwitterEmail BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation, has appointed Phil Hardman as senior VP and GM of its operations in India, South East Asia, Japan and Korea. The move is a streamlining of operations under Jon Penn, executive VP for the APAC region. Previously announced positions are Ding Ke as senior VP and GM for Greater China and Fiona Lang as GM for Australia and New Zealand. More from Variety Hardman was until recently the senior VP of commercial strategy for Asia. Last year he also took on the acting lead role of senior VP & GM Greater China, while recruitment was underway.

BBC Studios appoints Asia leads BBC Studios (BBCS), the commercial and production arm of the UK pubcaster, has promoted two executives to lead content direction and global distribution in Asia. Phil Hardman Phil Hardman has been upped to general manager and senior VP for Asia and Ryan Shiotani becomes senior VP content for Asia and Greater China. Previously, Hardman was the senior VP of commercial strategy for Asia and was the acting senior VP and general manager for Greater China last year, while Shiotani was senior VP and general manager for South and South-East Asia. In his new role, Hardman will lead the global distribution teams working in Singapore, Mumbai and Seoul, as well as being responsibility for developing an Asian growth strategy, in territories including India, Japan and South Korea.

Documentary Filmmaking Alum Elaine Minionis Awarded Regional Emmy Award for “Uncanny: The Dolls of Mariana Monteagudo” NYFA is excited to celebrate Documentary Filmmaking alum Elaine Minionis joining the ranks of multiple creatives who have had the distinguished honor of being awarded an Emmy. The regional Emmy, awarded in late 2020 by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Suncoast Chapter, was for Minionis’ film  Uncanny: The Dolls of Mariana Monteagudo. The short documentary was produced by Minionis and was picked up for national broadcast by PBS. The film follows renowned Venezuelan visual artist, Mariana Monteagudo, who currently lives in Florida. The film especially captures Mariana’s creative process and her inspirations behind her intriguing, eerie doll sculptures, all made of repurposed materials. From following Mariana dumpster diving to visiting local thrift shops for useful material,
