The University of Alabama has announced two new initiatives honoring the legacy of recently retired U.S. Senator Richard Shelby. One deals with policy, the other is an endowment for faculty in engineering, science, technology, and math.

The University of Alabama will honor Senator Richard Shelby with the creation of a $100 million endowment for STEM faculty and a learning center in his name.

The endowment will enable UA to pay for 20 or more additional professors each year and enhance the schools growing reputation for research.
