LSU, No. 4 Tennessee. The Razorbacks are taking full advantage of a favorable schedule that doesn’t see them leave the friendly confines of the refurbished Randal Tyson Track Center this season. Arkansas athletes have put up ten different top-10 marks nationally, including top-5 marks from Amon Kemboi in the mile (No. 1, 3:58.26) and Ryan Brown in the triple jump (No. 5, 15.96m/52-4½). Weekend Preview: January 22-24 ::: USTFCCCA

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. It also makes collegiate track & field athletes go bigger in early season meets after not competing for more than 10 months due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This indoor collegiate season will see many more bigger marks earlier than usual. A sense of urgency and people getting to their main event earlier, because never know when you could be quarantined or shut down and miss a few meets. Happy to return to competing. Todd Lane (@LSUtoddlane) January 17, 2021 This past weekend saw a slew of all-time performances added to the collegiate record book. KC Lightfoot, Baylor – Lightfoot broke a less-than-year-old collegiate indoor record in the pole vault at the Texas Tech Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas. He topped 5.94m (19-5¾) on his first attempt at the height and reduced Chris Nilsen’s former all-time best of 5.93m (19-5½) to second fiddle. Lightfoot missed three attempts at 6.00m (19-8¼), but has cleared that in practice.

LSU s Hobbs Couldn t Be Caught In 2018 ::: USTFCCCA

Celebrating A Century of NCAA Track & Field Championships LSU’s Hobbs Couldn’t Be Caught In 2018 June 9, 2018 LSU’s women have a decorated history 100 meters at a time.  From 1982 to 2017, the Tigers won 21 national titles at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships between the 100 (seven) and the 4×100 relay (14). It had been a long time, though, since LSU saw someone as fierce as Aleia Hobbs in 2018.  Hobbs actually burst on the scene as a junior the year before when she clocked the second fastest time in collegiate history at 10.85. That came at the SEC Relays, where Hobbs came within shouting distance of collegiate record holder Dawn Sowell, another Tiger legend.
