Farmers and pro-Kannada outfits have called for a bandh in Mandya district to protest the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The Supreme Court refused to interfere with the orders to release water, leading to demonstrations across the Old Mysuru region. Swami Nirmalanandanatha of the Adi Chunchanagiri Mutt joined the protests, pledging support to the farmers and urging Karnataka to fight the case legally.

A bench of justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi issued notices to the DMK leader on the plea filed by a Tamil Nadu advocate, B Jagannath. The petitioner told the bench that there has been a call for "eradication of a faith".
