There may be one pivotal moment that changes the course of how we go about our daily lives for as long as we have left with them.
For Dr. Akil Taher, owner of Doctors Med Care in Gadsden, this moment came as he was laying on an operating table for open heart surgery at 61 years old, after stents placed in his heart at age 56 failed him.
“I was eating a lot of rich, unhealthy junk food and not doing very much exercise at all,” said Taher, “I had a see-food diet, and if you were to name it, I probably have eaten it.”
