The IRS has accepted its one millionth taxpayer submission using the Document Upload Tool.

While the Internal Revenue Service has managed to reduce its backlog of unprocessed tax returns since the pandemic, one area where it's losing ground is in processing all the documentation for tax adjustments.

Taxpayers who receive nine types of notices asking them for information will have the ability to submit their documentation online rather than on paper.
