i think something is got to be wrong with the cnn polling unit, greg, because this man won 81 million votes. that is the most in american history. that is more than barack obama, donald trump. just judging by those vote totals, this man is a historical figure. it doesn t make sense. it s like getting engaged to a supermodel and then all of a sudden calling off the wedding a month later. something doesn t add up here. enter think it s clear what this is. the guy can t score a policy win and he s not running for reelection. and he just doesn t send a frail down the legs of democrats. or up the legs. up the legs. or down. if it s going down, it s not a thrill. i don t know why i said that. stop it. you think is going to run again, don t you? i do. you do? for what? for president. [laughter] the last few president that
votes. joe biden got 80 million. something doesn t add up here. i understand that s how the u.s. senate works. i think manchin signaled in august he could have made this announcement in august and saved us all a lot of time. he really seemed to like the media attention. i don t know if that s why he dragged it out. i understand there were actual negotiations but this isn t surprising and then to go on fox news and to deliver the knife in the back to biden is really kind of you know, kind of a low move by him. it s not a good day for biden. not a good day for the white house. i m not going to whitewash that. he had three initiatives. he got two of three. he did it with a 50% vote. nobody else has accomplished that. there were wins this year. this was a very high profile
sociological phenomenon that we all have to grapple with that has been a factor in this case. we know on tiktok videos and posts about gabby have been seen hundreds of millions of times. whether that s mostly positive or whether that s a negative i think remains to be seen. but i think all of that social media did put more pressure on investigators in this case. and joey jackson is still with us. joey, up until this point, laundrie has not cooperated with police. he s now been missing since tuesday. this is very puzzling. i hate to think the worst in all of this, but we saw that video of the couple with the moab police department. it doesn t look like things are going well there. and you contrast that with all of these other social media posts, something doesn t add up here. yeah, it really doesn t. so a couple of things. the distinction between direct and circumstantial evidence.
business, it s a very simple thing. we ll see what happens. but there s something pretty dramatic going to happen. we ve told mexico the tariffs go on, and i mean it, too. so joining me to discuss all this, our cnn political analyst nathan gonzalez and martgaret taleb. margaret, is this what the president touts, his deal-making ability? going into iowa he ll say this is an example of tough negotiations and what he can get done. but the deal that was struck, mexico actually helped save the president from himself a little bit here politically at home. he had mounting pressure from republicans in congress not to move forward with those tariffs. a jobs report on friday with weaker jobs numbers that may have reflected some of the economic concerns with china as well as mexico and some of these political trips like the rally next week in iowa where he will
the first safe country they enter. and in this case, ideally, to some in the white house, it would have been mexico. so every refugee passing through mexico would have had to apply for asylum there and not go to the united states. if they continued on to the united states, then the u.s. could just deport them easily back to mexico as essentially their new safe home. so that would have clearly made an impact in numbers. now mexico has said, we ll take care of all the people awaiting asylum in the united states, that is something, but obviously it s not the kind of impact that something like a third safe country agreement would have had. and it remains to be seen what that does for numbers reaching the border. but remember, mexico is also going to use its national guard in thousands to patrol its border with guatemala and they ll be stationed throughout the country too. that might have some impact as
