48 hours ago talking about the decision he was going to make. we are meeting with our military and everybody else. and we ll be making some major decisions over the next 24 to 48 hours. that is about now. there should be a decision made. and one of the things that i heard a republican member of congress say was that he s more concerned with the fact that there might not be follow-through from the tweet this morning than the actual tweet or the idea the president does a lot of bluster on twitter and doesn t follow through. and we ve seen this as a pattern in how he s been out there on national security issues without really consulting with all of the right people about internally about how this would work and how the military would implement it and how the state department would approach it and that is a problem. because either it is hard to deliver on it. your allies might around with you as you need them to be or the military can t deliver on it if he does limited strikes th
that s it s still important, if it s the words of a president. but it s particularly important when the way a president says sympathetic something is going to be done is that he signs a law declaring that that thing will be done. and requiring him, under u.s. law, to do that thing. it s one thing if he tweets sympathetic or makes an offhand comment and then doesn t follow through. if he signs a law that says he s doing something and then doesn t do it? that s the case with the only significant piece of legislation that trump has signed since he has become president. it s a remarkable thing. and i think sort of an undercovered thing. and again, it may give you pleasure if you re a person who doesn t like this president or his agenda. but with unified republican control of government for ten months now, they really have passed zero major legislation, of any kind. the most substantiative legislation, in some counts, the only substantiative legislation that has been passed is

made with the deal with democrats. it does go back with the deal he made with democrats. chuck and nancy, i normally wouldn t refer to them that way, but they have done this twice, once on spending, obviously the president followed through on that, but when they came out and stood up and said, hey, we have a deal with the president, i think there was a lot of wondering about whether they were going to find themselves in the same place that frankly republicans have found themselves over and over again where the president doesn t follow through. and the statement that they put out after these principles came out, they said, quote, we told the president at our meeting that we were open to reasonable border security measures alongside the dream act, but this list goes so far beyond what is reasonable. and the proposal fails to attempt any compromise. what is this about? this is about the border wall. their agreement and principle was that you will not build the wall in exchange for this.
a couple months back, i was talking to a bunch of north korea and china watchers how the trump administration decided to put its north korea troubles in the hands of china to solve. they said you know what? many u.s. administrations have done that before. china always drags its heels, doesn t follow through. they re going to have to consider taking tough steps, like attacking chinese banks that have been bank rolling the north korean regime. fast-forward, that s exactly what the trump administration is doing. also with this weapons sale to taiwan, it s saying to china, well, if you won t do what we need you to do to convince north korea to denuclearize, then we re going to have to arm our friends and allies in the region. so these are two really strong messages of, you know, we didn t want to do this. we gave you time. but we don t see you moving fast enough. there s also under the agreement with the united states and taiwan, there also is the agreement that the u.s. will help ta
