national political report wer the washington post and of course an msnbc political analyst. we talk about a pressure cooker atmosphere where the president has to let off steam or he will blow one of these days. tell us about that situation. there are two camps around the president who are deeply concerned. you have his friends who think he s distracted, not getting along with his party and then fellow republicans on capitol hill who see the stalled agenda wondering can this be put back together again. what stops him from focusing. why isn t he thinking every day at this point i need a tax reform bill. i need to put together enough votes in the senate and house to get it done or i will be a loser by year s end. why doesn t he focus is it mental? emotional? what s stopping him from doing the job he got elected to do? talking to people inside the white house, they say he s so flummoxed by congressional republicans burned by the experience in health care and
saudi arabia because of his business relations. president obama did not have this ban. president obama did not prevent women and children and allies of our troops overseas from coming to the united states. so if trump wants to have a ban like that, why doesn t he focus on the countries that have been sources of terrorism? i don t think he should do that at all, but if he cares about our national security, don t you think he should focus on the places that provided attackers that perpetrated attacks on the united states. jack has a fair point. jack is absolutely right that a new president has a right to do a national security review, and the new president should come in and say are we doing enough in the fight against isis, but what is terribly gone and against our values and hurts our national security is to have a ban like this, that will prevent women and children from finding refuge
license, making it a requirement for those who sell competitively and to make a profit. so i don t know that that would impact the father/son scenario you just talked about. it would even apply to somebody that just sold a few guns. look, not only does this really go after people that are not even dealers, these are just people that might want to sell to a friend or, again, to a kid one of their own children. but the president s trying to impose $250,000 fines against people. look, these are law-abiding citizens we re talking about. these aren t criminals. the president won t even go after people who broke existing federal law. why doesn t he do that? why doesn t he focus on his job instead of trying to usurp the role of congress and trump the constitution and the second amendment that is so sacred to our nation s founding. what s wrong with making sure that the people who are buying guns are suitable for gun ownership? allowed to buy guns. you ve already got a system that works.
