Figures matters. the tweet was vile and we could go on. abc did the right thing, they fire her. the president of the united states waits and waits and waits. he had praised her, he called her when the sitcom was rebooted. then in his first public reaction, he doesnt say, roseanne got fired because she did something racist. nor does he defend her, but what he says is, what about me? help me. >> look, can you imagine if the president sent out a tweet that said this is not the way anybody in this c...

Walk that line between being a representative of an administration that has had no action and somebody who sends her kids to school every day. >> the other thing is you understand the political power of the parkland kids and the movement. you could see the way sarah sanders from that podium broke down the artifice with the reporters, a bit of a kabuki dance in washington and was in the moment and responding emotionally to this kid. because hes representative of a student community, i thought we ...

Kneel was unanimous so there was quite a reversal. >> there was. absolutely. i think -- i think the owners dont know what to do. i think that trump has turned everything upside down and lets make no mistake, if donald trump doesnt say what he said in september, were not having this conversation today because it would have just died a slow and natural death. the issue was going away. colin kaepernick was out of the league. he wasnt talking and all of a sudden it all came up again because of trump...

To an end on september 1. does that change at all the clarity of obstruction? >> that does add a little clarity to the statement, because you could read that statement to say the obstruction part of the investigation will be over by september 1, that doesnt say that the russia part of it or to that matter other things that we may not even be aware of. manafort, for instance is being investigated for money laundering and tax violations, there may be some other people who will continue to be inves...

Campaign. we didnt know that a year ago. and we know that donald trump jr. was sending private twitter messages to wikileaks. we didnt know that during the campaign. the clinton/whitewater investigation ran seven years. the iran/contra had an investigation. it ran seven years. the valerie plame investigation, foyer year four years. some went a lot longer. the trump team is saying, wrap it up. kellyanne conway doesnt say theres nothing there, she just says it wasnt on my watch. >> i dont know vic...

President. and its just -- its a very weird public relations strategy. >> weird and interesting. okay. two key points there. jonathan, now according to "washington post," sarah huckabee sanders told her colleagues that giulianis interview left her in an untenable position. jonathan how much of a hit has she taken all week in terms of her credibility and sanders explanation that she, quote, gives the best information when its available. is that enough? >> so, first of all, its not surprising that...

Think if you look at timing of cohen and "the wall street journal" article where he said he facilitated the payment, used this word facilitated. he also said at no point in time was he reimbursed by the campaign or trump organization. its rather suspicious because it doesnt say that he paid it. and i also think its interesting that the did not mention mr. trump individually. i dont think theres any question as a release of that statement that merchandise 2018 that michael cohen had already start...

Make sure hes not charged with a crime. the best argument is the justice department cannot charge a sitting president. he may not be a sitting president all his life. one glorious day he will walk outside of those 16 acres at 1600 pennsylvania avenue, and he could be then charged with a crime. so there is a tension there. those things which might tend to protect his criminal liability can really hurt him politically, like taking the fifth. its a really difficult thing, and so far i dont think ei...

His legal team needs to understand that and separate themselves. that is to say, in the white house, the white house counsel does not work for donald trump. he works for the president of the united states. so his job is to forestall impeachment. his private attorneys need to make sure hes not charged with a crime. the best argument is the justice department cannot charge a sitting president. he will not be a sitting president all his life. one day he will walk outside, one glorious day he will w...

The goal? and thats my big concern, is that if the goal getting rid of north koreas nuclear weapons, president trump has already been checkmated and he doesnt even realize that the game -- he doesnt even know the game has already begun. >> why do you think hes been checkmated, though? because what we saw come from this summit between north korea and south korea was, they signed a declaration of denuclearization. >> well, theyve done that many times before. and when the north koreans say "denucle...
